Friends of the Brandon Town Hall

Press Release

August 31, 2007

The Walter Cerf Community Fund with the Vermont Community Foundation has awarded the Friends of the Brandon Town Hall a grant in the amount of $5,000 towards the purchase and installation of a fire suppression system for the building.

A fire suppression system is the next phase in the rehabilitation of the building and has a price tag of $75,000.  The Friends have an ambitious agenda to complete the renovations necessary to make our Town Hall a Community Center for all to use and enjoy.  The anticipated cost of those improvements is $927,000.

To date we have raised $391,000 for building renovations and improvements through grants, fundraisers and donations. Of this, $134,000 has come from the Walter Cerf Community Fund, $110,000 has come from the Preservation Trust of Vermont, $50,000 has come from the State of Vermont, $35,000 has come from the Town of Brandon, $10,000 has come from the Vermont Community Foundation and $52,000 has come from individual donations.

Hopefully you have enjoyed  the events held at the Town Hall this summer and have seen what we’ve done.  If you would like to learn more about the plans for our Town Hall, or help us reach our goal, please visit our web site at www.brandontownhall.org.  In addition you can contact Mei Mei Brown at 247-3971 with any questions.
